BTECs will further enhance our practical portfolio of subjects, available to Years 12 and 13 from September 2018.
Countryside Management explores the legal and practical side of managing an estate and builds on our already thriving gamekeeping activities, while Enterprise and Entrepreneurship gives students the skills they need to feel confident in running their own business. Hospitality focuses on event management, as well as the importance of the hospitality industry for the economy.
Students can choose to study only BTECs, or to follow a mixed pathway of one or two BTECs alongside one or two A Levels. The courses offer a practical way of learning by doing for students and really take advantage of Ampleforth’s magnificent setting and help to embed our core values even further into the curriculum.
If you would like to learn more about our BTEC options, please contact us on 01439 766863. We look forward to hearing from you.
"I am enrolled on the Countryside Management course and already we have been on a number of field trips to take our learning beyond the classroom and into real-life situations. It’s much easier to learn with hands-on experience rather than in theory. For our module on 'Estate Skills' we visited Duncombe Park in Helmsley and we have also explored how Helmsley meets the needs of tourists. Next we will be on the moors to examine upland habitats and the species found there." Charlie, Year 12
