Ampleforth Celebrates Outstanding Academic Success

2024 A Level examination results at Ampleforth hit an eight-year high*, with 77% of students achieving Grades A*, A or B. 92% received places at their first choice of university and 100% at their first or second university choices. Prestigious Russell Group universities accounted for the majority of destinations, admitting two thirds of Ampleforth’s Year-13 cohort.

Ampleforth’s exam success at the highest grades (A*- A), has comfortably exceeded the national picture. These excellent results have further consolidated that trend, with 43% of students achieving A*- A. This is significantly higher than the national average of 27.6%.

Speaking about the results, the Headmaster, Peter Roberts, said:

“These outstanding A Level results are testimony to our hard-working students and their dedicated teachers. This year we have significantly outperformed our benchmark of independent schools, and I am delighted with our progress. All our students receive the individual support and care they need to achieve their very best.  It is particularly pleasing to see so many new and talented students join us for the Sixth Form, with 50 new recruits joining this year.“

* Excluding 2021 where national grades were not comparable due to the use of TAGs instead of examinations during the pandemic
