Assistant Librarian

Hours: Full-time, part-time, or job-share hours available

Full-time Salary: Circa £15,500 depending on experience

Start Date: End of August 2024

Founded in 1802 and set in a beautiful Yorkshire valley, Ampleforth College is the world’s foremost Catholic boarding school, welcoming girls and boys of all faiths aged 11-18. Each student’s unique talents are recognised and nurtured within a welcoming community rooted in Benedictine values. 

We are looking for an Assistant Librarian to help with the day to day running of the school library, including helping students and teachers locate resources, keeping library stock well-presented and organised. The ideal candidate will be educated to A Level with previous experience working with young people.  You will be IT literate, well organised and efficient, with a keen eye for detail. You will be friendly and approachable with the confidence to take charge when necessary whilst being calm and patient, with an enthusiasm about books and reading.

The library is open 7 days a week during term-time; core hours are 08:30 to 16:00 on weekdays and 08:30 to 12:45 on Saturdays.  A range of working patterns for this role will be considered (full-time, part-time, job-share).  Evening and weekend work would be required occasionally and could be arranged as a regular commitment.
