Ampleforth Equestrians Crowned North Yorkshire County Champions

Huge congratulations to the Ampleforth College Equestrian team who were crowned North Yorkshire County Champions in no less than 6 classes last weekend! In a busy weekend at the Northallerton Equestrian Centre they won the 90cm Show Jumping Team, 1m Show Jumping Team, 1m Individual, 1.10m Individual, and 2 Dressage Classes - so lots to celebrate!
It started with Annabelle (12A) receiving the news on Friday that she had won both of the NSEA Pop Up Dressage Classes she entered in December. Pop Up Dressage is a unique class in which competitors from schools across the country submit videos of themselves riding a dressage test. The videos are judged by NSEA Dressage Judges. It is a great competition, especially over Christmas when there aren’t many competitions scheduled.
Annabelle and her horse Wilhelm I (formerly owned and ridden by OA Georgina Prest, M19), followed up this news by winning their NSEA Dressage competition on Sunday, qualifying for the finals at Hickstead in May. Alongside Olivia (9M), Beatrice (7EW), and Florence (9A), Annabelle qualified again for Hickstead as a member of the 90cm Show Jumping team.
Congratulations also to Liza (10A) for winning her Dressage Class and qualifying for Hickstead. She was also a member of the 1m Show Jumping team alongside Etta (8EW), Olivia (9M), and Florence (9A) who won the Team section and qualified for Hickstead.
Florence also won the 1m Individual Show Jumping Class with her sister Etta finishing second. Etta went on to win the 1.10m Individual Show Jumping Class and both girls qualified for Hickstead.
What a fantastic set of results for our Equestrian team! We are so proud of all who represent the school including Zinnia (9M) who won the warm-up Dressage Class and came third in the Prelim Class, having never competed in Dressage before! Well done to Beatrice (7EW) and Poppy (10A) who competed in our additional 90m Team Show Jumping and were a great credit to Ampleforth.
We are all looking forward to Hickstead!
