Book a Visit

Individual visits allow a good insight into our community and the beautiful valley in which we live, work and study. You can book a visit now by completing the form at the bottom of the page.

First visits usually involve pupils taking you on a tour of the School, time with a Housemistress or Housemaster, and meeting the Headmaster. We encourage families to stay for lunch with pupils and staff.

To ensure your visit is as meaningful and informative as possible, please take the time in advance to give the Admissions team details about your child's interests, areas of strength and challenge. This allows us to tailor your visit to include meetings with particular members of staff, such as the Directors of Music or Sport for example, or to discuss scholarships or bursaries.

After the visit, if you wish to continue to find out more, we request that you register your child with the College. This guarantees consideration of a place, and that we will keep you up-to-date with events and news from Ampleforth. A non-refundable administration fee of £100 is required to register.

The Admissions team is always available on admissions@ampleforth.org.uk or 01439 741081 to answer any queries and provide support.

Car hire: Autohorn Car Rental is right next to York Station and bookings can be made by phone 01904 557548 or through the website www.autohorn.co.uk.  They have a discount scheme for Ampleforth Visitors - we can give you the code.

Ampleforth is a special place, far from the academic hot houses that so many schools seem to have become – it doesn’t leave anyone behind. We have seen such a positive and trusting approach; relying on inspiration, self-discipline and self-motivation to help students find an area in which to excel. I cannot stress how rare and significant we consider that approach to be.
