Joining students across the country, Ampleforth College Year 11 students are today celebrating GCSE results Day. We are delighted with this year's results, with 31% of students achieving a grade between 9 and 8, 53% between 9-7 and 71% between 9-6. These results constitute the strongest GCSE results seen at the College for some years and mark a significant improvement on the Mock exams taken earlier in the year. This achievement speaks to the hard work and dedication of our students in the last academic year, of which we could'nt be prouder. These results are promising for their academic progress in the Sixth Form where they will be joined by a strong intake of new students from across the country.
Speaking on the results out Headmaster Jon Mutton had these words:
Our GCSE pupils should be very pleased with their results. This is our best set of grades for a number of years at the 9/8 and the 9/7 boundary. The pupils should take credit for their approach as well as the excellent adaptive teaching by our teaching staff. It is not only the raw data which is impressive but the value-added scores are very high. The results set up our pupils for the next stage of their lives positively.
