JCB Challenge Success
Congratulations to the 11 teams of 5 from Year 10 who took part in JCB the challenge on Monday, demonstrating impressive teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills throughout the event. This is a Dragon's-den style challenge, which sees teams tackle a series of engineering and design challenges inspired by real-world industry practice. It was an exciting opportunity for participants to develop critical thinking, collaboration and communication skills and gain insight into the world of engineering and innovation.
While developing their product or service, all teams chose a Project Manager from amongst their ranks, designed their branding and a mascot, chose a brand ambassador, wrote and acted a TV or social media advert, and designed a print advert. They decided on the perks and protections their employees would have under HR regulations, where they will locate their premises, including why there, and what it would look like.
As decided by a judging panel, based on the multiple elements of the day, the best teams and products were -
1st - PEN-CIL, the Swiss-army knife of writing utensils (well done to Olivia, Charlie, Tabby, Carlota and Tibère)
2nd - Sparks watches - a watch that would tell you everything about your school day - timetable, APs, what time to leave for fixtures, meal menus, news and updates, your punctuality figures
3rd - GymTrain - a carriage on the major train routes to enable passengers to workout while on the move.
There was great positivity and engagement, and a special shout-out to our EAL students who played a part in presenting to all there. We are grateful to our JCB partner for supporting such a valuable initiative and helping to inspire the next generation of engineers, scientists and innovators.
