North-East Hockey Champions

A huge congratulations to our Girls Hockey 1st XI, who have been crowned North East Champions in the England Hockey national league. The team now progresses to the national finals in February, where they will compete against the leading regional squads from across the country.

Reflecting on the journey so far, Chloe (13M) shared her thoughts on the team’s performance this season. She said:
“This season the 1st XI have qualified for the tier 3 National Finals being held at Nottingham in February. The semi-final match was against Barnard Castle, where we managed to secure a 2 to 1 win despite the challenges we faced. The Finals game against Hymers was a strong and encouraging performance from the whole squad, with each individual playing their part in terms of resilience and perseverance, helping us to achieve a 5 to 0 win. I am thrilled with how far we have come as a team and I believe that through our collective hard work and dedication, we will do something very special in the next round.”

This achievement comes during an excellent year so far for Hockey at Ampleforth. Our U16 Cup Team secured a superb victory in the Yorkshire Finals last week and will move forward to the North East Finals in December. It has been inspiring to see the commitment and teamwork shown by our Hockey players this year, and we are delighted to celebrate their continued success.
