New Yorkshire County Cricket Club Coach
We are extremely pleased to announce that Yorkshire County Cricket Club Performance Pathway Coach, Haydon Jackson, will be joining the Ampleforth College coaching team on a full-time basis as our on-site Cricket Professional and Games Coach.
Haydon has been working closely with Head of Cricket, Seb Phillips, supporting the winter cricket programme, as well as conducting one-on-one lessons throughout the off season.
Haydon is an ECB Advanced Coach (Level 3 Qualification) and has coached representative and recreational cricket for over nine years. In 2018, he was the runner up for the county’s Young Coach of the Year. Outside of school, Haydon is a coach for the Yorkshire CCC Performance Pathway, which sees him supporting the Winter Performance Squads during the winter period and supporting match days with a range of age groups during the summer. In 2022, he was instrumental in the Yorkshire U14 XI becoming the Royal London County Cup Champions. During August each year, Haydon runs the Yorkshire CCC Regional and County Cricket Festivals, which are hosted at the College and attract more than 400 cricketers over the space of 15 days.
Haydon says: “I am excited to be joining the games department and look forward to supporting the Head of Cricket and sharing the knowledge I’ve gained from being part of the Yorkshire CCC Performance Pathway team in places such as Sri Lanka and India. Having access to the excellent facilities the College has to offer, including the recently opened Robin Dyer Cricket Nets and Maiden Ground for girls’ cricket means we can develop a summer and winter programme including one-to-one, group and skillset sessions. It is an exciting time to be joining the team here and I look forward to working with the boy’s and the girl’s teams to see cricket at Ampleforth go from strength to strength”.
