"Ampleforth College produces well-adjusted, high achieving, caring young men and women.”  Ben & Anna Gibson, Current Parents.

COVID-19 UPDATE: The Ampleforth College site is now open again to external tours and socially distanced meetings with key personnel. Visits, virtual tours and online meetings can all be arranged through Admissions.

Visiting the School

Most families begin the admissions process by visiting Ampleforth to look around, meet students and staff and get a better feel for the College. This is very important and some families visit on several occasions in the lead-up to their children joining.

Our priority is keeping all our students, staff and visitors as safe as possible. Visitors are very welcome again in line with UK Government Covid-19 guidelines. On a normal visit, you will enjoy a tour of the School with current students, see the boarding houses, meet housemistresses and housemasters and other key members of staff. Depending on your child’s interests, these could include the Director of Music or the Head of Games, for example.  All children meet the Registrar before an offer of a place is made, either in person or through an online platform. We are renowned for our Benedictine hospitality and would be delighted to invite you to join our students for lunch during your visit. In advance of your visit, we will require you to confirm that you are healthy and have abided by all relevant UK Government guidance. Your contact details will be taken in case track and trace is required.

A virtual visit

The Admissions Department is happy to organise a virtual visit for you and arrange appointments with key members of staff online. Please email admissions@ampleforth.org.uk and we will be in touch to discuss your requirements and find a suitable date.

Join an Open Morning

Many families have enjoyed our e-Open Days since visits in person have become more difficult.  These allow you to learn more about Ampleforth from the comfort of your own home.  We will continue to offer virtual events for the foreseeable future as well as on-site Open Days. Click here to register for a future Open Day.

During e-Open Days the Head, Mr Dyer, and other members of the Senior Leadership Team will speak and you will hear current students talking about their own experiences. You will be able to ask questions and request to speak to specific members of staff.  To see details of all upcoming events and register, please click here.
