A Level Success 2023
It has been yet another successful year where we have seen strong results comparable to 2019 levels in line with the rest of the country.
Many congratulations go to all our students who received their A Level and BTEC results yesterday. It has been yet another successful year where we have seen strong results comparable to 2019 levels in line with the rest of the country. 85% of our students received grades A*-C with a high proportion securing their places at Russell Group Universities. There was particular success for Chinese, Design & Technology, Further Maths, German, Greek and Music with 100% of students receiving A*-B grades. Several subjects also returned A* or A for 2 in every 3 students sitting them. Our BTEC students did extremely well with 8 out of 14 getting distinction-starred or distinction.
Headmaster, Peter Roberts, says: "On A Level and BTEC results day, I wanted to add my congratulations for the Ampleforth leavers of 2023. They have shown constancy, perseverance, and courage across their time at the College, shaking off the outside adversity of the pandemic and the regulatory interventions, staying true to the vision of the faith, values, and opportunities an Ampleforth education brings. They have also contributed much to the co-curricular and community life of the College. Today, they have shown that they did not let up on their academic future, studying hard in the Benedictine tradition: they are now able to embark on university courses and gap years with confidence, but wise enough to be aware that the good grades celebrated today are only a beginning on their pathway to greater understanding and academic progress, through to adult life. That their encouraging outcomes are closely aligned with those achieved by their forebears in 2019, the last time there was a full live exam session, is also a great tribute to the dedication and expertise of their teachers and tutors, as well as to the support and kindness they received from the support staff at Ampleforth."
