Our travel department offers a friendly, efficient and bespoke service for students and parents, providing advice and assistance with all travel arrangements for school holidays, including escorted train services to London and Edinburgh, bus services to York station, and booking airport transfers and taxis.  

Ampleforth is set in a beautiful valley on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, yet our proximity to the main line train station at York means that London can be reached in just two and a half hours (the fastest trains take 1 hour 45 minutes), and Edinburgh in just over three hours (the fastest trains take 2 hrs 23 minutes). We offer fully escorted journeys to both King's Cross and Edinburgh Waverley stations at the beginning and end of all school holidays. 

We provide our day students with a comprehensive local travel service according to where there is demand. This includes an express bus service from Clifton Moor on the outskirts of York city centre.

I’m incredibly grateful to my parents for giving me the opportunity to attend Ampleforth. It was without a doubt one of the most enriching and formative experiences of my life, and it continues to shape who I am today.
