Congratulations to our 1st XI cricketer Tom who has been selected for the North East community team NUSC, taking on a six-game Hilton International Challenge Series against KNCB Dutch Lions starting 25 July.

The Series, one of the few international challenge series to be hosted in Europe in 2022 due to ongoing pandemic restrictions, sees the Dutch National Lions Team fly to the North East to take on NUSC, a small local community club, whose unique cricket programme, has long attracted leading international teams to fly in to play.

The series to be played across six matches, five days, and four formats, will be further expanded on Wednesday, 27 July by the UK Fire Service Cricket Team travelling to represent the Key Workers in a special #thankyoukeyworkers T20 day, in association, with Arnold Clark Community Fund.

Tom, who is delighted to be selected, adds “it is a huge honour to be selected to play against the Dutch Lions, but more importantly, to join with everyone involved, representing our communities, in saying #thankyoukeyworkers as, without them, we would not be able to play this or, any series”.

Subir Shrestha, Performance and Operations Manager of KNCB, is delighted to see young players getting these opportunities to play against international opposition, adds, “KNCB is looking forward to playing against all the NUSC and UK Fire Service players, supporting in every way we can, to make it a fantastic week for everyone involved”.

Good luck to Tom and the rest of the NUSC team from us all at Ampleforth College!
