FACE-FAW Sleepout
Please support our Year 12 pupils raising funds to support those facing homelessness. Every donation will make a tremendous difference to the charities they are supporting through their inspiring efforts.
Year 12 are fundraising for two charities which work with, or provide support for, the homeless and hungry in Leeds and Bradford: St George's Crypt in Leeds and St Pio's Friary, Bradford. Many of our Year 12 students have visited these centres to see their work in action.
What have we already done?
In 2022, it was estimated that a homeless person died every 6 ½ hours. In symbolic recognition of this shocking statistic, on Friday 2 February, eight Year 12 students completed a 6 ½ mile run.
What are we going to do?
On Saturday 24 February, a group of 15 intrepid Year 12 students and three members of staff will expose themselves to the elements by sleeping out in an act of solidarity with rough sleepers.
This initiative is undertaken by FACE-FAW, Ampleforth’s student-led charity. The students organise a range of activities throughout the year to support a range of worthy charities and service projects. Each year group has a fundraising focus, and Year 12 have been learning about homelessness. Every penny donated to FACE-FAW for our sleepout will be re-distributed to the two charities selected by our students: St Pio's Friary and St George's crypt.
